Digg.com is a powerful tool for the lone blogger. One big article gets to the top of digg and bam you are hitting the mother load of all traffic. But, getting to the top of digg is not the part that has been helping the normal blogger. You would be lucky to get one or two of your webpages or articles on the top of digg. Well I have some strategies that might help. If not you will at least get more traffic out of your digg venture.

1. Join into the community - Don’t just digg your own stories and never come back. No, you need to join into the community and make friends. The more friends you have the more publicity your articles will get. Plus if your account becomes well known in the digg community you will have a much better chance to get diggs.

Really this is the only thing I can say to help you get to the top of digg. What I have found out is that getting diggs alone will not cut it anymore. What I am saying that Digg has changed its algorithm. People that had over 40 diggs were not getting that much publicity because they were getting those diggs from the “digg exchanges”. In case you aren’t in the loop about this. People on forums routinely submit their articles, and conduct digg exchanges. An example of this is this:

This is a thread that would be typical on the freebies section.

Digg Exchange 1:4:

Digg this article:

www.digg.com/the-title-goes-here

& I will digg 4 of yours as yada yada yada….

What I found out was that people that did this didn’t even get on the Hot in… (category name goes here) section even after getting over 100 diggs.

So, now we go to the conflict. What if we don’t get involved in the community? Is there another way to get to the top of digg. My answer is: You always have a chance, you are just bettering it when you are more active in the community.

But now you are sad because of the fact that I said something that you all didn’t want to hear. So now, to repent, I will show you some ways to get traffic from what you have already on digg.

1. Submit your main article to digg. You can start off by getting some traffic for the article to start off from the upcoming section. Then we wait until it is kind of gone and nobody is coming from that anymore. That is where we go to the next step.

2. You start to submit the article to social bookmarking sites. On some social bookmarking sites, each article has a landing page. Submit those landing pages to digg one by one.

3. By now you might have some random people linking to your article on a blog or forum thread. You can then Digg these articles if they have not been already. If they have then give them a boost by giving them that extra digg.

Those steps are there to help you milk as much traffic and links as possible for your site. They will not get you to the front page of digg but they will definitely get you some well earned traffic.
